I've had the pleasure of creating portraits since 2007. It all started in a digital studio, but over the last several years my paintings have moved to canvas. My wife asked if I could create one of the boys as a Christmas gift. Since they dart around the house like crazy, I decided to take the normal route and work from photos. Of course there were plenty of good images to choose from, but there was still some compiling to get them just right. They always seem to have a warm glow, so they were drawn in an outside setting with plenty of light. The style is sort of a pop-art/impressionist mix that came about over the years of working with portraits. Also, briefly covered in the video, is a memorial portrait of a young woman from a couple of years ago. My abilities to work with color have improved greatly over the last five years, and my attention to detail never falters.
