This framed print is available in many sizes to best fit your space. This is an unofficial Tool print created in honor of the masterful sound of 46 and 2, a song from their album AEnima. Of course there is plenty of debate about the song's meaning. It would probably be unfair to absolutely determine a concrete definition as to its' actual lyrical intent, but its' essence is covered quickly here.

There are two main ideas covered in the lyrics. One has to do with the "shadow self", a concept developed by Carl Jung, a contemporary to the father of phycology - Sigmund Freud. The other, lesser-known idea is that of "sacred geometry", which states that essentially in this song; we humans have 46 chromosomes and will evolve spiritually (instead of physically) when we form an additional two chromosomes. Hence forty-six and two. Maynard forms links between the two ideas, expressing that he must dig inside the shadow self in order to evolve in this way. Throughout the song, he poses the problem, the goal, and his attempt at his solution. Whether any of this is feasible, it's an incredibly poetic search for deep self-awareness and an attempt to grow beyond daily human consciousness.

This visual artwork is an attempt to capture the ideas explored in the music and express them in my own artistic style. The style is, of course, a line art that got its' roots from early woodblock printmaking and evolved into what we use for the trade of goods and services. The illustrative elements refer to the sacred geometry found all throughout nature, without exposing human form. It was my idea to omit human form so as not to distract from the general ideas being represented. The text elements in the design play back and forth between the father of the "sacred geometry", and the father of the "shadow self" all set on the stage of something similar to the American dollar bill (since all members of Tool are from the United States). A few of the song lyrics are found in the design to try and capture the feeling of the song.

I hope you enjoy this print in your home. These frames are pretty good quality and a great value for the price. I have quite a few myself. You simply will not find other framed art like this. In fact, it's so obscure, that if I don't start making more sales soon, I may have to shut this site down. I'm grateful for your support.
